XD-XDM Slide Milling

It was difficult to find someone to properly mill the slide so that my optic could be mounted. Precision lived up to their name by doing a quality job with a quick turnaround.

After much research into who was doing what for an optics milling service and finally settling on which optic I wanted, Springfield Armory announced they were producing an OSP slide for the 9mm/40 XD. I was really liking what I saw as it eliminated much of my hesitation and concerns. But, SA wasn't offering an OSP cut slide for their XD45, and no one was doing an OSP cut either, then I came across the PRP website. I looked at their slide milling form and what they were doing looked very different from what I have seen other milling services offer, I was curious, so I called them. They explained their milling on an XD was an OSP cut, they didn't have to say another word, but I listened carefully waiting to hear an inadvertant flaw in the process to pop its ugly head up, but no, the OSP cut eliminated the striker retainer pin and the striker safety related issues found on an XD having the traditional milling service done. That settled it, I was all in, so I mailed my slideoff to PRP and in two weeks to the day USPS was ringing the doorbell delivering my OSP cut slide. This slide looks great! I mean Great! Best of all, I found an unadvertised side benefit, that pesky extractor that needs a special tool to remove, no more, as it is now exposed on the top when you remove the cover plate, so if you are looking to upgrade to a heaver duty extractor, you now have a second option, just use a small hammer and punch and push it down from the top, you can set aside the special tool. I cannot wait for my EOTECH EFLX to show up, it uses the Leupold Delta Point Pro footprint. So that is the mounting plate I ordered with their slide milling service, they make others too. This is the Cadillac of slide milling jobs for the XD series... It mimics the factory cutout and uses the factory covers and adapter plates, unlike everyone else's which require their specific parts.

This is the second slide Powder River milled for me and it is just a perfect as the first one. Fast turn around and perfect machining! Great finish too!

Sent my slide and optic into be milled and mounted. I also asked for thier recommendation for co-wittness iron sights. I received my slide back with optic and new iron sights mounted. They did an excellent job and quick turn around.

I had my XD 9mm Tactical slide milled because I can't get the XD-M in California. Powder River Precision did an excellent job! Nothing to complain about with a fast turn around time. Would highly recommend Powder River Precision if you are considering having your slide milled for a red dot. If you mount a Holosun 507K on the slide you will have to cut down your screws because the supplied screws from Holosun are to long.
