Lightens trigger weight significantly for 10mm XDM Elite Compact

Posted by DZ on 29th Aug 2024

Just received yesterday and installed immediately , with the great assistance of YouTube . Also just shot about 150 rounds with my new XDM Elite Compact 10mm and noticed that the trigger weight was excessive and really throwing off my shots. Both initial and follow up A friend I was with noticed the same and said that this was a very bad trait of this model. I soon found out that the stock trigger weight for this model is 6+lbs, vs 4-4.5lbs for my stock 9mm pistols I have. So I decided I needed a trigger enhancement. Noticed that PRP was known for many years for upgraded triggers for the XD line. But also noted the price being around $180 for full trigger kit. Thinking that I really didn’t hate the whole trigger of my XDM Elite, I read more reviews which stated that the PRP spring kit does the job well in reducing the trigger pull weight to around 3.5lbs. After installing, I immediately felt a significant reduction in trigger weight and smoothness. One thing I chose was to use the reduced weight striker spring instead of the competition weight spring due to my concern for light primer strikes. PRP states that all their striker springs do not compromise primer striking ability, but for a person who relies on their CCW pistols for defense, I did not want to risk anything. I still have yet to try out my new lighter trigger at the range but have good expectations. If anyone has the 10mm XDM Elite models, please consider the $28 spring kit vs the full trigger kit if trigger weight is your main concern.

PRP Spring Pack for XDM ELITE

Posted by David Hemphill on 26th Jul 2024

The spring kit arrived quickly and in good condition. A friend of mine and I had to search YouTube for a video showing how to properly install the spring kit. The extra springs in the kit were not identified either on the packaging or in the YouTube video, but I think most people should be successful with the installation. The results were as promised - a smoother, lighter trigger that allows for better results on the range and in competitions.

Great kit, reduced trigger pull weight from 5.5lbs to 3.5lbs on a XDM Elite Competition. Fantastic reset. Not the easiest to install, Springer has a very helpful video.
